Best and worst cities to live in the Czech Republic. Prague is not in the first place
Looking for a city to live in? The best and worst Czech Republic cities to live in are listed by the Obce v datech project and Deloitte.
The 206 Czech municipalities were examined by experts to create the Quality of Life Index. Regions were evaluated according to 29 criteria, including the following: the level of medicine and accessibility of medical care, environmental conditions, access to services and infrastructure, the financial situation of residents, and interpersonal relations.
In terms of quality of life, the Czech Republic’s major cities and the surrounding area continue to be particularly appealing. The leader is the town of Říčany in the Central Bohemia Region. The city finds itself in first place mainly because of its location: it is surrounded by nature, and it is close to Prague (less than half an hour away).
In the five years of the rating’s existence, the municipalities of the South Moravian and Zlin regions have significantly «climbed» by all indicators: for example, the municipality of Pohořelice in the South Moravian region has risen by 97 positions during this time and has taken the 20th place.
The general trend is as follows: small towns with affordable housing prices and decent employment opportunities are actively moving up in the ranking. This attracts more and more people, especially young people.
