Status and separation
This magnificent Tuscan estate was built on the site of a colony of ancient Etruscans (who were already exploiting the olive trees of the area at that time), offering incomparable views of the green hills of Amiata and the nature park, which houses the largest beech forest in Europe (between Val d'Orcia and Maremma).
All the buildings of the property have been restored in detail to preserve the original Tuscan appearance. Magnificent frescoes were created to give the buildings a unique look. The exterior walls are made of stone in a typical rustic style and have been carefully restored to emphasize its original beauty. The interior decoration boasts: wooden rigel in alternation with terracotta tiles, wooden window frames, walls painted in soft colors to give the rooms more light.
Territories
The estate occupies a land plot with an area of 21.5 hectares. The largest part is devoted to the olive grove (12.7 hectares), which is currently used to produce excellent organic olive oil. On the remaining territory there are: vineyard (1.3 hectares), young forest (0.6 hectares), arable land and pastures (6.9 hectares).
The villa is decorated with a well-groomed Italian garden with a rose garden, small ponds, a green hedge, flowers and gravel paths.
The pool with the edge of the infinity is at the heart of the property, offering a unique panoramic view of the hills surrounding Mount Amiata.
The bioclimatic greenhouse allows plants to be grown for the garden and garden, and is also used as a winter shelter for the most vulnerable and less cold-resistant plants.
Information on oil production
All the olive trees in the property belong to the famous Olivastra seggianese variety. Initially, the trees were wild and grew on the slopes of Monte Amiata, where they began to be exploited by the Etruscans for the production of ointments and balms (mainly as a seasoning). These historical data are confirmed in the image of the olive harvest on ceramic vases.
In this context, it is worth mentioning the Eleiva project, organized in Tuscany to trace the detailed historical olive growing chain in the Val d'Orcia area. Thanks to new research methods, it is possible to identify those millennial trees whose age is compatible with the time of the Etruscan finds in the area.
The endurance demonstrated by trees in adverse weather conditions and the high oil productivity (which exceeds 20% when the fruit is fully ripe) contributed to the spread of olive trees, making this variety one of the most valuable.
Olivastra Seggianese DOP olive oil produced at the estate has won several awards in recent years: a silver star at the 2016 New York International Olive Oil Competition and the Best Packaging of the Year award at the MonoCultivarOliveOilBIO international competition.
One very famous restaurant in Florence chose the olive oil of this estate for domestic use.
