South Korea plans to introduce two new types of visas: K-culture and Workcation. They want to implement the idea as early as 2023.

South Korea has approved the sixth Tourism Master Plan, which will be implemented from 2023 to 2027. With this plan, the authorities want to revive the country’s pandemic-hit tourism industry.

As part of this plan, the government will issue two new visas — K-culture and Workcation.

The K-culture visa is designed for foreign nationals who are interested in Korean culture and want to learn more about Korean entertainment and content creation. The visa will be approved if the applicant completes a training program in the cultural content industry. There are no details yet on the visa, but the Ministry of Culture has confirmed that it will be introduced in 2023.

Regarding the workcation visa, it will essentially be an analog of the digital nomad visa. With it, foreign travelers will be able to stay in Korea for up to two years while simultaneously working for their company remotely. This visa should be presented in the second half of 2023.

It is curious that the country’s government declared 2023 and 2024 as the «Years of Visiting Korea». During this time, hundreds of K-culture events are planned, such as concerts featuring K-pop stars, the K-Pop concert in Incheon (INK), the One Asia Festival, and the Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games.
