Foreign nationals who purchase an apartment in Albania may apply for a 1-year residence permit, renewable annually. After 5 years of legal residence, they may qualify for permanent residency, and after 7 years, for citizenship, subject to the applicable requirements. Property ownership does not automatically guarantee either status.
A valid passport, a marriage certificate or a certificate confirming single status (if applicable), property ownership documents, and proof of sufficient financial means.
