Applications are now open for the renewal of residence permits expiring on or before January 31, 2027. Previously, the online service was only available to holders of documents valid until the end of December 2026.

The changes apply to holders of standard residence permits whose documents expired after July 30, 2025, or are due to expire by January 31, 2027. They can submit their applications through the AIMA portal.

The conditions are slightly different for Golden Visa holders: they can renew their documents remotely if they expire by December 31, 2026. Holders of long-expired documents can use a separate platform to renew them under a special procedure.

Submitting applications in advance will help applicants complete the renewal process ahead of time and reduce the risks associated with processing delays.
