Prime Minister Andy Burnham has said he is open to discussing the restoration of freedom of movement with the EU, which was ended when the UK left the bloc.

In the future, EU citizens could once again be able to live and work freely in Britain, while Britons could do the same in the European Union. However, the initiative has sparked debate even within the ruling party. Its 2024 election campaign ruled out any possibility of restoring freedom of movement.

A joint UK-EU summit is scheduled for November 20, but there is still no draft agreement on restoring freedom of movement.
