The country's Cabinet of Ministers has approved a bill on the tokenization of real estate and the trading of such tokens. The government expects the reform to make housing investment more accessible by simplifying transactions that do not involve buying an entire property.

Tokenization involves dividing expensive real estate into multiple digital shares, each acting as a full unit of ownership. This allows investors to avoid having to buy an entire building or apartment. Plans call for linking these tokens to the state real estate registration system.

Currently in Qatar, a one-year residency visa is available with a real estate investment or property purchase starting at 730,000 riyals (around $200,000). The property must be located in a designated zone for foreigners, and permanent residency becomes available if the investment amount increases fivefold.
