Before renting a cottage in Belarus by the day, check for gas or electric heating. Check for a first aid kit and a fire extinguisher (as required by the Ministry of Emergency Situations), and check for waste disposal regulations (in rural areas, only into roadside containers).
Short-term house rentals in Belarus are more affordable than hotel rooms due to their larger space: 100–300 square meters versus 20 square meters in a hotel. On the downside, houses are more expensive, but only if you're renting for one or two people. The larger the group, the cheaper the final bill per person.
Foreigners require a passport and a migration card (issued at the border). Payment is most often made in BYN or by card, so always check the availability of local currency or the conversion rate when paying by card.
A cottage (up to 50 m²) in Minsk's Mostovsky District costs 120–180 BYN per night. A standard house for 4 people in the Myadel District near Naroch costs 280–420 BYN. A premium villa for 10+ guests in the Smolevichi District costs 1200–2200 BYN.
