A beautiful late-Renaissance castle/castle built as a rectangular fortress with 4 smaller round towers at the corners and a three-story rectangular entrance tower in the middle of the western defensive wall. It is located in today's Bela settlement in the area of Novi Marof at an absolute height of 200 m. The size of the castle was roughly 41x31m, and inside the defensive walls there is a massive one-story house with a straight floor plan, supported by the western facade on the defense tower. The castle is surrounded by a shallow defensive moat, and until the First World War there was also a wooden bridge there. The central part of the castle is well preserved, while the defensive towers have partially collapsed. As already mentioned, the castle was either built or renovated around 1605, and it was renovated again in the 18th century, when a tall rectangular building, which bridged the defense ditch with two arches, rested on the NW round tower part of the rampart. The entire complex was built in the 19th century. arranged in the style of historicism, and then the entrance tower was raised by one level, and the old narrow windows were replaced by today's larger ones. Bela I. belongs to the group of lowland Italian-type Renaissance castles built in the 15th and 16th centuries.
The total gross area of the castle is 1,215 m2 (net 810 m2), which consists of the ground floor, first floor and attic of the castle, the ground floor of a smaller house located directly next to the castle and another building of 300 m2, and the total land area is 32,000 m2.
The castle needs to be completely renovated, the roof of the building has been renewed and connections for water, electricity and gas have been made. There is a concept study for the castle and a complete conservator's study.
The castle of Bela I belongs to the monuments of the first monument category.
