Luxury apartment in the historical center of Ljubljana.
Luxury, large apartment in the old center of the capital, in the recognizable Schweiger house with a Rococo facade, which represents the pinnacle of Baroque architecture in the city and is one of the most beautiful Baroque palaces in Ljubljana.
The apartment is located on the third floor of an apartment building, which, according to GURS, was built in 1630, without an elevator and has a total area of 325.0 m2, of which 304.9 m2 is a usable area.
The apartment has high ceilings, which creates a feeling of spaciousness and luxury. Schweiger’s house, which was renovated between 1748 and 1749 by the renowned architect Candido Zulliani, has retained an almost intact exterior and interior layout. Experts refer it to the most important examples of secular Baroque architecture in Ljubljana. After the catastrophic earthquake of 1895, the house remained completely intact and became the only one designed by Zulliani in Ljubljana. In the 1960s, the building was overhauled and fortified against earthquakes, which is unique among the buildings of the old city of microlocation.
The apartment was overhauled in 2011. (flooring, electrical and plumbing works, radiators).
The apartment has a diverse and functional layout, the rooms follow each other in the following order:
From the staircase of the building there is a first entrance that leads to the spacious lobby, which leads:
The second part of the apartment can be accessed from the first through the room or through a separate entrance, access to which is carried out through the inner balcony:
In a small part of the apartment, an exceptional oak parquet has been preserved, and in the main part, a new set parquet was laid during repairs. Some rooms are heated with electric radiators. The apartment has many elements of late Baroque and stucco, which give historical value.
For several decades, the Schweiger house was owned by the Slovenian poetess of noble origin Lily Novyi, who lived there all her life and is immortalized by a bust of sculptor Lui Vodopivets at the entrance to the building.
The facade of the Schweiger house is richly decorated with details of stucco and stonework, including protruding window frames, a balcony with forged railings and an entrance portal. Above the portal there is a bust of Atlanta with an index finger on the lips, and under the cornice in the facade are mounted coats of arms of the nobleman Schweiger and his wife, by whose order this palace was built.
The interior of this famous Baroque palace is decorated with stucco on the ceilings, an interesting staircase and parts of the original interior decoration. The Schweiger Palace, or Lily Novy House, is not only an architectural monument, but also a historical and cultural one, closely connected with the Austro-Hungarian court, Prešeren and a number of prominent cultural figures of Slovenia and Austria.
The construction design of the apartment has several important advantages.
Thanks to three exits to the inner balcony, the apartment can be converted into several apartments, which, in addition to bourgeois life, gives an excellent opportunity for investment and renting out.
