State-protected architectural monument. The distinctly classical style building was built in 1928 according to the design of the famous architect Eižens Laube as a summer residence for the public figure Jānis Dāvis (1867–1959). Jānis Dāvis (1867 – 1959) was known as a successful Latvian entrepreneur in the real estate sector during the period of the Republic of Latvia, as well as a publicist, pedagogue and leader of the anti-alcohol movement. He compiled several textbooks. His published ABC book was taken as a model by the authors of subsequent ABC books. He was also a great patron, donated land for the construction of schools, and bequeathed properties to the University of Latvia. After the Second World War, the chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Latvian SSR, Augusts Kirhenšteins, lived in the building.
