There are apartments that immediately attract attention, even despite the variety of options on the market. One such remarkable apartment is now for sale in Warsaw. According to the seller, it once housed the famous Polish writer and screenwriter Marek Hłasko.

In the center of Warsaw, an apartment with its own history is on sale. According to the seller, here once lived a famous Polish writer and screenwriter Marek Hłasko. Of course, this apartment is located not in the new modern complex, but in the old, prewar quarter, where each courtyard had its own atmosphere.

The house was built in 1931, and the advertisement states that the Building and Apartment Cooperative «Cooperative Houses» was responsible for the construction of the building. The neighborhood in which the house is located, Powiśle, is still considered one of the favorites of Varsovians. In the summer evenings, it’s nice to take a walk along the Vistula embankment and enjoy the beautiful views of the city. Of course, the infrastructure is quite well-developed here: plenty of small and large stores, cafes, restaurants, museums, galleries, and parks with bicycle paths.

Despite its venerable age, the house still retains its grandeur: there are only two apartments per floor, and there is also a Stiegler elevator, which itself can be considered a work of art. For reference, the company «Stigler» was founded back in 1860, and its electric elevators were mass-produced 38 years later. At the beginning of the XX century, Stigler was one of the first companies to produce electric elevators for apartment buildings. According to reminiscences of contemporaries, it was possible to meet both the simplest in decoration elevators and cabins with sofas, lamps, and ornaments made of exotic wood.

But let’s go back to the apartment, which can rightly be called a time machine. It is as if the interior has not changed since young Marek and his mother lived here. The living room is decorated with an authentic massive working fireplace, lined with carved tiles. This fireplace is a separate work of art, and there is a carved window on the wall.

Also in the room, you can see the wooden panels on the walls and natural parquet. Wooden chairs on carved legs, closets, and chests of drawers seem to complete the historical picture. On the walls hang pictures in massive frames. A beautiful view of the Vistula River and National Stadium opens from the windows of the salon. The study boasts the same splendid view.

In addition to the living room, the apartment has a bedroom, a cabinet, and a separate kitchen. In the kitchen, the owner has tried to preserve the furniture, while organically incorporating a modern stove and stove hood.

Judging by the photos, the bedroom’s interior is as simple and laconic as possible. In the long corridor, which connects all the rooms, the attention is attracted by the arched doors framed by massive casings.

When you look at the photos of such apartments, you are involuntarily imbued with the spirit of the time. And one can only wonder what the future owner of such property will be able to do: will he leave everything as it is as a historical monument or remodel the house in his own way, choosing the comfort of modern life?
