Mezhaparks (in German also known as Kaiserwald) is a neighborhood in North Central Riga. The name literally translates to 'forest park'. In the 17th century the Mezhapark neighborhood was by the name Kaiserwald, because in 1621 the King of Sweden Gustav II built a field for his army in this place. This name remained until 1923, when it was officially changed to Mezhapark. Until the 19th century farmers' environment lived from this place, they provided Riga with their production.
