Wuppertal is a city in Germany, in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Subordinate to the administrative district of Düsseldorf. With a population of 345,425 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2014), Wuppertal is the largest city and industrial, economic, educational and cultural center of its region. The "Great Green City" as it is called, Wuppertal is located south of the Ruhr region and is the seventeenth largest city in Germany and one of the main centers of the Earth's North Rhine-Westphalia.
The city is home to the European Institute of International Economic Relations. Among the attractions of the city, one can note the world’s oldest monorail suspension road with a length of 13.5 km, which is more than 110 years old. In addition to the monorail road for which the university city is world famous, other attractions can be noted.
This is the famous dance theater of Pina Bausch, the Historical City Concert Hall, the Opera House, the Von der Heidt Museum of Fine Arts, the Skulpturenpark Waldfrieden sculpture park.

The city has a total of 61 primary schools, twelve primary schools, five general schools, eight secondary schools and eleven higher education institutions such as Wilhelm-Dörpfeld-Gymnasium, Archbishop of St. Anne High School or Karl-Fuhlrott Gymnasium. There are also eight private schools, 13 vocational schools and 14 special schools.
The University of Wuppertal was founded in 1972 as a result of the merger of three higher education institutions. The University of Wuppertal has 250 university professors in seven departments with over 19,000 students. In addition to traditional engineering courses, mechanical, electrical and civil engineering, the university has a rare program in safety technology. Also, of course, health economics is very specifically offered here. In addition to numerous undergraduate and master’s programs, there are highly appreciated new research projects with a strong practical focus. Since 2008, the university has also been affiliated with the European Institute of International Economic Relations. The Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy is also well known.
