A HOUSE WITH A STORY
Karaburun has a long history connected to the sea and to seafaring. Because of its location on the open Aegean, the area has also been associated with pirates in the past.
According to local stories, this house is believed to have once been used as a lookout point.
The story becomes part of the house itself when you see its approximately 90 cm-thick stone walls. They are massive, solid walls, almost like the walls of a small fortress.
Reclaimed stones have been used in the walls and in the fireplace. These stones come from different periods and carry their own marks and textures. Bringing them together gives the house a character that would be very difficult, if not impossible, to recreate today.
The joints between the stones have also been carefully finished. They are yellow inside and red outside, bringing out the natural texture of the stone and adding to the overall beauty of the house.
The strength of the stonework is matched by the care given to the smaller details.
OLD WOOD, STONE AND TIME
Some of the most beautiful details of the house are the niches in the stone walls and the original wooden ceiling.
The very old solid wooden beams and ceiling elements that have survived from the past were kept and carefully restored. They were not replaced or made to look old. They were simply cleaned and polished, allowing the original wood and its character to remain.
The combination of the old stone walls, the wooden ceiling and the solid timber beams creates something that is difficult to achieve in a newly built house: the feeling that you are living inside a piece of real history.
At the same time, the house has been cared for with the aim of creating a comfortable, durable and high-quality home while keeping its original spirit alive.
The doors and windows are made with teak wood, chosen for its natural beauty and durability. The warm colour and texture of the teak work naturally with the old stone.
THE GARDEN
The garden feels like a natural continuation of the house.
There is a beautiful gazebo under the grapevine, with a large, permanently installed granite dining table beneath it.
This is a real outdoor living space — a place to sit around the table, have long lunches, enjoy dinner on warm summer evenings, or simply spend time under the shade of the vine.
The garden also has a traditional stone oven, a barbecue and a single-room stone outbuilding.
The outbuilding is registered on the title deed together with the main house.
The garden is home to olive, pomegranate, walnut and lemon trees, as well as a grapevine. Together, they give the property the feeling of a true Aegean garden.
The stone house, the old trees, the grapevine, the shaded gazebo and the large granite table come together to create a place that feels made for living rather than simply looking at.

The house is approximately 3 km from Dolungaz Bay, one of the most beautiful bays in Karaburun, and approximately 4 km from Kuyucak Beach.
It has an impressive view over the valley, and Chios can be seen from the property on clear days.
Karaburun was known as Mimas in ancient times. Because the peninsula faces the open sea, it has always been exposed to the wind.
Today, Karaburun is one of the few places on the İzmir Peninsula that has managed to keep much of its natural character.
Its low-density settlements, mountains, natural landscape, clear waters and quiet coastline give it a very different feeling from the better-known tourist resorts of the Aegean.
There are many natural bays and quiet beaches around the peninsula. The mountains and the surrounding landscape are especially attractive to people who enjoy nature and outdoor life.
