History of Dubenki village:
The village of Dubenki was founded in 1894-1896 and was first part of the Beshentsevo district. In 2023, it will be exactly 100 years since the village became part of the city of Nizhny Novgorod (the village joined the territory of Nizhny Novgorod in 1923). The name of the village Dubenki is not accidental. The village got its name due to the adjoining oak tree from the eastern part, now a natural monument, where the Botanical Garden is now located.
It is currently a combined post. Dubenki includes in addition to the actual Dubenok, Alexandrovka and pos. Red Dawns. Dubenka consists of more than 60 streets and more than 1280 houses.
I love my village because I was born here, grew up here, my friends here, my parents’ home here, and of course, because the village of Dubenki is a memorable place. Despite its small size, the village of Dubenki is famous for memorable places and attractions. There are also streets named after prominent people. For example, Karbyshev Street is named after Professor, Lieutenant-General of the Engineering Troops of the Great Patriotic War, Doctor of Military Sciences Dmitry Mikhailovich Karbyshev, Hero Yurin Street is named after Boris Andreyevich Yurin the hero of the Soviet Union, who was the commander of the Guards Rifle Regiment of the Western Front during the Second World War. In honor of the American workers, revolutionaries Sacco Nicola and Vanzetti Bartolomeo got its name Sacco and Vanzetti street. There is also the street Saltykov-Shchedrin, which is named after the Russian writer-satirist Mikhail Evgrafovich Saltykov.
But, not only remarkable D. Street names in honor of famous people. There are also cultural heritage sites here. For me, as for many of the residents. Dubenki, it is very important and expensive that in the village (between Gornaya Street and Vetluga Passage) there is an equipped Alexander Spring - a holy spring in honor of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God. According to legend, there was a phenomenon of the icon of the Most Holy Mother of God. Here the locals can not only collect pure holy water, but also pray. This place is able to saturate a person with special energy, spirituality. This place is a source of strength and inspiration for me and for all the villagers.
The village of Dubenki is also famous for the fact that in its eastern part the Botanical Garden originates, which is a natural monument of regional importance. This place is very important for residents not only of the village, but also of the whole city. Here you can enjoy the landscapes, aromas of nature, improve our body.
