Almyrida (also spelled Almyrida or Almerida) — seaside resort located 22 km east of Chania in Crete.
This beautiful location is relatively close to the city of Chania, and this combination makes Almyrida an ideal destination for both a day trip from Chania and an extended summer holiday. The lush hills of the Apokoronas region meet the azure waters of the sea at Almyrida Beach. A beautiful sandy beach lined with trees and a picturesque small harbor with fishing boats and other sea-going vessels create a unique landscape. Opposite the beach there is the island of Karga, and behind it, if you look to the north, you can see the coast and hills of the Akrotiri peninsula, and in the south rise the mountains of western Crete — White Mountains. The beauty of the landscape — the main reason why Almyrida has grown from a small fishing village to what it is today…. A resort that is actively developing in terms of tourism and is constantly expanding with hotels and cottages (whose owners live in different countries) on the surrounding hills with magnificent views.
In the picturesque Almirida Bay you will find two beaches. The first beach with sand and pebbles is located on the western side of the bay and reaches a small peninsula on its eastern side.
The second — it is a long beach that starts on the eastern side of a small peninsula, is interrupted by buildings standing literally on the waves, and then stretches east to an artificial harbour.
