For sale: a 1952 timber family home in Kemi, Finnish Lapland — three generations, now ready for its next chapter
Winter evening, a wood-fired sauna and fireplace waiting in the basement, snow settling quietly over almost 1,000 m² of your own land, and the Bay of Bothnia a few minutes away. Swedish border 20min away.
This rintamamiestalo — a classic Finnish "front-line soldier's house" — was hand-built by my grandfather in 1952 and has stayed in the same family ever since. Now it's time to pass it on to someone who'll give it a new story.
The house:
Honest note, because that's how we'd want to be sold to: the upper floor is currently mid-renovation and not yet finished, a project for whoever takes it on, or simply extra space to close off for now. Everything else, the middle floor and the basement, is complete and ready to live in from day one. A full, independent condition survey (July 2026) is available on request.
In the early days of the house, there was two separate apartments: Upper floor and middle floor + basement. It is possible to separate them again if you wish.
Price: 57 000€.
If you've dreamed of owning a real Nordic wooden house with land, a sauna, and space for family and friends — move-in ready on two floors, with a renovation project waiting upstairs if you want one — send a message. Happy to share more photos, the full condition report, and answer questions.
