The Danish government has introduced a new immigration law, the Supplementary Pay Limit Scheme. This scheme provides a residence permit for applicants who have been offered a job in Denmark with an annual salary of more than €50,000.

There are two basic conditions for obtaining a residence permit under this scheme:

1) Your salary must meet or exceed the minimum amount.

The minimum amount for 2023 is 375,000 DKK (more than €50,000). It is regulated annually on January 1.

Salary may include the following components:

  • Salary in the form of liquid assets, including fixed allowances and bonuses.
  • Contributions to retirement plans, which are paid by both the employer and the applicant.
  • Paid time off.

2) Your salary must be paid into a Danish bank account.

In other words, the money must be paid into a Danish bank account. However, transfers can be made from different bank accounts, not only Danish. There are also no restrictions on the type of account, as you can use both foreign currency and basic bank accounts.

Obtaining a residence permit under this scheme does not require any particular education or professional experience.
