The property is crossed by the fastest river in Kurzeme Šминērvelis (in 2009 it was nominated as the cleanest river in Latvia). The property also houses the largest and oldest ash park in the Baltics, which is registered in several international catalogues of parks and gardens and mentioned in the chronicles of the 18th and 19th centuries. The distance to Riga is 168 km, to Liepaja - 72 km.
According to archival data, the castle belonged to well-known families of Baltic Germans.
The castle complex includes:
- A plot of land with a total area of 20.37 hectares (12.37 hectares - park and forest, 6 hectares - arable land, 2 hectares - under water);
- The building of the castle with a total area of 1600 square meters - built in 1561, reconstructed and rebuilt in the 18th century;
- Gardener's house - 200 square meters;
- Vegetable storage - 100 square meters;
- Stables, sanitary storage, firewood shed;
- Garage for 3 cars;
- Foundations of 4 economic buildings;
- On the bank of the river wooden log house - bath;
- 2 fish ponds;
- Garden.
- Artesian well - 80 m.
The castle building was partially reconstructed - a new roof was installed, several hundred load-bearing wooden structures were restored and replaced, new wooden windows and wooden oak doors were installed, stairs were restored, a warm floor was made on the entire ground floor, and engineering communications were partially carried out. Maybe build an attic floor.
