The historic city of Murcia is nearby and there are a couple of good shopping centers. If you want to see some history, Rojales and Orihuela have old towns and cave houses nearby. Torrevieja is still very Spanish and has wonderful beaches and promenades, just to name a few of the interesting places to explore. Only 15-20 minutes to Murcia airport, so easy to travel for holidaymakers. Or if you live here permanently, it's close to the airport to visit relatives in the UK or other European countries.
