The historic house from the early 20th century is a true gem. Originally belonging to the greatest photography director of the new Brazilian cinema, it was transformed into a cultural foundation and now serves as a charming guesthouse. The property has a commercial IPTU, with partial exemption, and was completely renovated 12 years ago by a French architect and decorator, though it currently requires a few minor repairs.
With five bedrooms, including three suites (two with direct access to the garden), the house features a spacious living room on the main upper floor, with a 5-meter high ceiling and precious pink peroba wood flooring, as well as another larger, more modern living room on the lower level, with polished concrete flooring, very bright, at the main terrace level, offering stunning views of downtown Rio de Janeiro. The open kitchen has direct access to the main terrace and the lower living room, and there is an elegant office on the same level.
The location is perfect, in a calm and secure area, close to the charming Largo das Neves, which is very lively on weekends and during Carnival. Access by car is easy and direct to downtown, beaches, and airports, with buses and the Santa Teresa tram at the door.
The house has several terraces and balconies, covered or not, including for the bedrooms and suites, with multiple levels, a vast garden with a beautiful view of the city, and a large hot tub. The vegetation is impressive, with many fruit trees, including a century-old mango tree on the main terrace. There is a garage for one vehicle.
The charm of the house was preserved during the renovation, which respected the original style of the 'Casa Portuguesa' typical of Rio de Janeiro's golden era, while incorporating all modern comforts, such as air conditioning in all rooms, hot water with gas heaters, a cistern, an alarm system, armored doors and windows, as well as large terraces.
