A cottage is a separate residential building, usually of small area (150–300 sq. m), intended for one owner or family. Today, cottages are often used both for permanent residence and for recreation outside the city.

Main characteristics of the cottage:

  • Architectural features. Small two- or three-story houses, often made in an individual design, usually made of brick, wood, stone.
  • Size and area. The average area of cottages varies from 150 to 300 sq. m.
  • Layout. Cottages often include additional rooms: dressing rooms, offices, gyms.

Cottages are most often built in the suburbs in the form of organized villages with developed infrastructure (playgrounds, shops, security services). The adjacent territory is often closed to outsiders and equipped with additional security systems.
