The country's Ministry of Finance has proposed levying a 10% tax on individuals' profits from cryptocurrency sales. However, net profits under €500 per year and cryptocurrency exchanges will be exempt from the tax. The first vote on the bill is scheduled for early November.

For foreigners, several important caveats remain:

Tax Residency: Holding a local "Golden Visa" does not automatically make the owner a tax resident of Greece; this status is generally determined separately.

Retirees: Foreign retirees under the special tax regime can pay a flat tax rate of 7% on their foreign income.

Non-Dom Regime: Beneficiaries of the Non-Dom regime pay a flat €100,000 annually on income earned abroad. It is currently unclear whether crypto profits will be covered by this flat fee or taxed separately.

Additionally, a proposal is under consideration to eliminate "Golden Visas" obtained through real estate investments and to increase the property purchase tax from 3% to 15%.
