Starting January 1, 2027, Croatia plans to launch a new financial instrument called the Croatian Investment Account, recently announced by the Croatian Ministry of Finance. It will be a special tax-advantaged account for investing in stocks, bonds, ETFs and funds.

The contribution limit will be €200,000. If the funds are not withdrawn for five years, the limit will increase by another €50,000. Capital gains, dividends and interest will be exempt from tax as long as the relevant conditions are met. After one year, at least 20% of the portfolio must be invested in Croatian assets, including Croatian stocks, bonds and other domestic market instruments.

On September 10, the government submitted the bill to parliament for consideration.
