From January to June this year, Portugal managed to attract €6.7 billion into its economy. In 2025, the figure stood at -€0.2 billion, meaning investors withdrew around €200 million more from the country than they invested.

The bulk of the investment went into Portuguese companies, while €1.7 billion was directed into real estate. At the same time, this figure was 11% lower than a year earlier.

Experts at Immigrant Invest cite high property prices as one of the main reasons investors are turning away from real estate. In addition, luxury properties in Lisbon and the Algarve generate lower returns, while amid the current global uncertainty, the risks may no longer justify the investment.
