Description

The building was built in 1910 according to the project of the architect O. Bārs as a residential building, the villa of P. von Denfer. The building is an architectural monument of national importance. The building is considered to be one of the architecturally most expressive constructions in Mežaparks. A figurative, thought-out and at the same time neat formation rich in details (unusual forms of window openings, half-timbering motives, avant-corps, bays, canopies) that underscore the best traditions of Art Nouveau and it has been ‘seated’ into the dune terrain in an interesting way. A special accent is granted to the building by the basic construction of the veranda glazing.
Full reconstruction has been performed in the building. Upon renovation of the building the initial layout of the premises envisaged by the architect has been retained to the maximum extent by additionally constructing a garage and an attic floor. The total area of the building is 569.40 m2. Land plot area 1,890 m2.

The main entrance faces Hamburgas iela; from the small passage there is an entrance to the spacious hall with a fireplace. The hall is surrounded by the study, a spacious living-room and a dining-room, a kitchen with serving area and a separate warehouse, and a toilet. There is an exit from the living-room to the veranda and to the garden terrace (the ground floor area is 165.73 m2).

A separate apartment has been constructed on the first floor of the building (a bedroom with two closets, a bathroom and a balcony (64.05 m2), three bedrooms and a separate bathroom (the first floor area is 155.55 m2).
There is a studio constructed on the attic floor of the building (100 m2) with separate toilet facilities and a French balcony. The area is relatively divided into zones by using open beam constructions. The floor has been constructed in two levels connected by wooden internal stairs that serve as an interior element. There is also a basement floor constructed in the building that, thanks to the location of the building on the dune, is on the ground floor level at the courtyard side. In the courtyard section there is a separate entrance from the garden to the recreation room, pool and sauna premises, a closet and sanitary and technical premises, and a cigar room (98 m2). A garage for 2 cars and a technical room have been built in the part of the building facing Hamburgas iela.
(Floor area 148.10 m2)

A tended garden surrounds the building with terraces, support walls, a pond and automatic garden watering system. Paths are made of granite cobblestone and clinker. A separate garden house construction (a warehouse for gardening tools) with a canopy for a car is located at the back gate.
