Bogliaco is a marvellous hamlet in the municipality of Gargnano, on the western shore of Lake Garda, home to the famous Centomiglia sailing event and the 18th-century Villa Bettoni, former seat of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers of the Social Republic, with its monumental garden, unique in the whole of Lombardy.
Bogliaco is also home to one of Italy's oldest golf courses, Golf Bogliaco, and the Marina di Bogliaco, a beautiful marina that is one of the most popular.
In the surrounding area there are enchanting landscapes to discover: Toscolano Maderno with its Valle delle Cartiere open-air museum and the 'Villa Romana'; Gargnano with its restaurants and small shops, its art treasures such as the 12th-century cloister of San Francesco and the Romanesque parish church of San Giacomo; Gardone Riviera, a romantic village with a modern lakeside promenade, the Vittoriale, a villa and park created by the eccentric poet Gabriele D'Annunzio, and André Heller's botanical garden; Salò with the longest lakeside promenade in the whole of Lake Garda, the historical centre, dating back to the medieval period, has a strong public appeal thanks to the numerous shops of famous Italian designers.
The large cities of art, such as nearby Brescia, Verona and Mantua, are all worth a visit. Each one distinguished by its own strong historical and architectural identity can offer tourists a range of unique cultural, artistic and entertainment stimuli. Among the streets of these cities, small and great secrets wait to be discovered and explored.
