Eleven kilometres north of Ubud – in the middle of the rice fields, with a magnificent view of Bali’s mighty Mount Agung, this luxurious, fully-furnished four-bedroom villa has two swimming pools, surrounded by an 8000 sqm garden of sweet smelling flowers, lotus ponds and waterfalls. Bordered by a small river, it is traditionally laid out as a compound, with the main house and the four bedrooms as standalone buildings. The main house contains an open, fully equipped kitchen fitted with side-by-side fridge, oven and microwave oven. An open air wet kitchen is connected. The living- and dining area has a natural stone floor and a spectacular cathedral-like traditional ceiling. It is furnished with spacious sitting areas, a ten-seat dining table and multiple artworks. The room opens through folding doors to a large natural stone floored veranda, all surrounded by water lily-covered, terraced fishponds and with two flanking traditional gazebos offering breezy, shady relaxation. The media room/library has a hardwood floor and is fitted with comfortable rattan relaxing chairs and coffee table and offers the best of audio and video equipment.
Two of the four spacious air conditioned bedrooms share a private open kitchen- and dining pavilion as well as a private spring water fed plunge pool and pool deck. Each house offers a furnished veranda and bathroom complete with shower cabin and a small walled garden with outdoor shower. The spa is a beautiful open, walled court, covered by a traditional pavilion in the middle of a koi pond, with a natural stone bathtub and an open air waterfall styled shower and massage beds. The huge 18 x 5-metre main pool is spring water fed and flanked by an ironwood pool deck furnished with sunbeds and sunshades. Protruding into the pool is a traditional gazebo. The pool is fitted with a salt chlorinator system. Connected to the main pool deck is the teriyaki kitchen with tables and chairs and a teriyaki grill. There is also a toilet and pool-shower as well as a fully equipped gym.
The property is is surrounded by most of the attributes that entice people to this exceptionally beautiful island – traditional art and craft communities, ancient temples, palaces, emerald rice terraces, vertical river gorges, coconut palms and lush jungle. Knee-buckling views incorporating the distant volcanoes are among the most prized in the world. Ubud is home to a small treasure trove of museums and galleries, featuring traditional and modern work including paintings and carvings. It is great for shopping and it even has its own sacred Monkey Forest. Restaurants are plentiful, and in the neighbouring villages, visitors can watch the island’s most accomplished painters, stonemasons, woodcarvers, mask makers and silversmiths at work. Ubud is the seat of the Sukawati Royal Family; the palace is centrally located and open to the public. There are many, well-presented, cultural performances staged here.
