Description

Bulduri is a residential area and neighbourhood of the city Jūrmala, 17 km from Riga. Named in the 15-th century after the landowner Johann Buldrink. One of he oldest summer resorts. The building of summerhouses started in the forties of the 19-th century. In 1875 it numbered some 400 summer houses. The architect H.Hilbig built the Lutheran Church in Bulduri in 1888-1889. A post office was opened in 1907.Market started functioning in 1908. In 1910 the first school of gardening was opened in the estate of Bulduri. It is functioning at present. The Bulduri technical school of horticulture houses a dendrological park. Building along the seashore started at the turn of the centuries, when the territory was divided into regularly planned plots. The more wealthy members of German circles inhabited it; the place was frequently called "German stronghold".

Very developed: nearby spa and fitness centre, swimming pool, hotel Lielupe, lots of cafes, famous Jurmala market. Only 200 m to the sea.
